DD Bharati now among top 5 Hindi GECs: BARC- Neilsen report
The return of shows like Mahabharat has changed the viewer profile of the channel with more kids tuning in
The BARC-Neilsen data for week 14 reveals that DD Bharati is now among the top five Hindi GECs in India. According to the week 14 data, the return of Mahabharat to TV caused a change in the viewer profile of DD Bharati. More kids have been tuning in to the show with their grandparents.
Kids who watched the show along with their grandparents constituted 25% of the viewership of Mahabharat and 22% of Ramayan. The percentage duplication of Ramayan was the highest among all Hindi GEC shows. Viewership contribution from NCCS A has shot up by 43%.
According to a tweet shared by Prasar Bharati, DD National has surpassed its own viewership record after it maintained its number 1 spot for two consecutive weeks in a row. The channel has continued to stay at the top for week 13 and week 14.

In week 13, DD National registered a viewership of more than 1.5 billion. And in week 14, it posted more than 1.9 billion. The numbers bear testimony to DD National’s rising popularity after it brought back classic television shows like Ramayan, Mahabharat and Shaktiman.
The re-telecast of the iconic shows on DD Nation and DD Bharati during the lockdown has helped increase their viewership. Broadcast Audience Research Council data revealed that Ramayan garnered the highest-ever rating for a Hindi GEC show since 2015.
Emboldened by the renewed interest from the audience, Prasar Bharati has also launched DD Retro, which will air only the classics.
