Best ads of the week: Mother Dairy’s mom-umental ode, Britannia turns pockets into bins
In Week 4 of April, these ads stood out in terms of creativity and recall
Every week, we are subjected to hundreds of ads in one form or the other. Brands have to pull out all stops to make viewers take notice of their commercials, let alone remember them long enough to convert the recall into a sale.
For an ad to stand out, it needs to have a few things in place: being clear in its message, sticking to the brand values and reaching the right audience. Such ads tend to have a greater recall, which, in turn, can help them stand out in a sea of mediocrity and ultimately drive sales for the brand.
In Week 4 of April, brands tried their best to capture the audience's attention. Brands such as Mother Dairy, MakeMyTrip, Britannia and Cadbury Perk succeeded and made it to our list of the best ads of the week.
Britannia
FMCG giant Britannia announced two years of plastic neutrality with a gem of an ad. The film by Talented and CodeRed was released to commemorate Earth Day 2024. It follows a little girl who is on a mission to collect Britannia wrappers, stuffing them into her pockets as she finds them. The ad serves as a retort to those who think driving sustainability at a personal level is a cumbersome exercise. The ad also stands out for another reason: not once did it show any Britannia product.
Cadbury Perk
Celebrity ads usually rank low in terms of creativity with brands depending on star power to do all the heavy lifting. This Cadbury Perk ad, with Alia Bhatt at the helm, is an exception. Created by Ogilvy, the playful ad embodies the brand’s “Take It Lightly” mantra with the deft use of humour, star power and creativity.
MakeMyTrip
The two-film campaign conceptualized by creative agency Moonshot brings back the Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt duo and their comic chemistry. The two reprise their quirky couple act, as newlyweds who have jitters about their first-time travelling.
Mother Dairy
Inarguably, one of the best ads we saw this year is Mother Dairy's tribute to the motherly side in all of us. The ad is built on the insight that we all inherently have a motherly side which we exemplify in varied situations and circumstances. The film by Ogilvy is accompanied by a soulful anthem by Gulzar.
