Senior level exits at Mid Day; Abhhijit Mazumdar made Exec Editor – Mid Day all Editions

Mid Day’s Group Editorial Director Shishir Joshi and Editor – Editions Krishna Warrier have resigned from the company. Mid Day has decided not to replace the position of Group Editorial Director. Instead, Abhijit Mazumdar, who was the Resident Editor, Delhi is moving to Mumbai as Executive Editor, Mid Day, All Editions. Mazumdar will report to Manajit Ghoshal, CEO, Mid Day Multimedia. Ghoshal has confirmed these developments to exchange4media.

The Casbaa India Satellite Forum 2009, which was held in Delhi on March 17, saw eminent speakers from the DTH, cable, IPTV, HITS and broadband industry sharing their views. Digital technologies have created shifts in the way people access and view content, and hence shift in the models of broadcast and distribution companies. Though competition has gone up, there will be co-existence, the speakers felt.

We have addressed cost build-ups; now we have to increase revenues: Ravi Dhariwal

The past few weeks have seen many cost cutting measures coming from BCCL, including pay-cuts. BCCL Chief Ravi Dhariwal explained that the company was approaching the current media environment with a two-fold plan – control costs and increase revenues. He said that having addressed the former part of the plan, the company was now focussing on increasing revenues by providing integrated solutions and newer BCCL media vehicles for clients to advertise on.
