After announcing its plans to show episodes of the Epic Mahabharata on mobile phones, Reliance Communications is now premiering a movie ‘Ctrl+Alt+Del’, which has been specially produced for the mobile platform by Phonethics Mobile Media, on Reliance Mobile World.

“The premiere of ‘Ctrl+Alt+Del’ on Reliance Mobile marks another milestone, whereby the Indian film industry has recognised the power of the mobile medium by releasing it on Reliance Mobile World,” said Mahesh Prasad, President, Applications and Solutions Group, Reliance Communications.

“Reliance continues to delight its mobile customers by bringing big screen content to mobile phones such as the recent introduction of TV serials like Mahabharata and Malgudi Days,” he added.

Saurabh Gupta, Director, Phonethics Mobile Media, and also the director of ‘Ctrl+Alt+ Del’, said, “We are extremely pleased to partner with Reliance Communications and bring the movie to a growing community of movie lovers. The launch of ‘Ctrl+Alt+Del’ on Reliance Mobile World is a step towards empowering users with choices of strong independent content with an alternative theme to the movie buffs.”

Releasing ‘Ctrl+Alt+Del’ on Reliance Mobile World actor Rahul Bose said “For the first time in world telecommunications history the customer has been offered two completely diverse offerings on a single platform: mobile services and movies. I believe that the mobile phone is the next best medium for infotainment that will reach out to the present day’s tech savvy audience. I am thrilled to be part of this never-before initiative jointly promoted by Reliance Communications and Phonethics Mobile Media.”

A love story set in the future, ‘Ctrl+Alt+Del’ has won acclaim at various international festivals such as the Atlanta International festival and the Palm Beach International Festival. It is a futuristic film set in a time where technology guides human interactions. Kabir, played by Rahul Bose, is set to commit suicide when he receives a call from a woman. The two start talking and it is only towards the end that he realises that he has been talking to a call centre software and not a real woman.

The movie is accessible on Reliance Mobile World under the ‘Movies N More’ option and would be available at a nominal charge of Rs 15 for a 5 minute online streaming, Rs 10 for movie video clips, while downloads of ring tones and wallpapers will be charged Rs 5.

Coined by mobile telephone company Vodaphone, they are mini-television series that can be shown in two-inch screens of 3G handsets. The company also plans to release a software called Mungle, which can be downloaded and will enable users to be able to download and view multimedia files easily.
