Amul’s quirky topical ads, which usually serve as a commentary for current social, economic or political issues, have focused on a particularly tear-jerking issue this time – soaring onion prices. The latest ad has managed to grab eyeballs with a slogan that is bound to make readers guffaw. And it has a Bollywood spin to it!

The company’s Twitter handle shared the latest ad with the Amul girl juggling three onions and the slogan: “Kaho na pyaaz hain.” The line also alludes to the name one of Bollywood biggest blockbuster movies Kaho na pyaar hain.

Amul’s quirky ads have always been warmly received by the Twitter community, who love cracking up over a good pun. This time around too people on the internet have heaped praises on Amul’s creative team for coming up with yet another socially-relevant commentary in the form of a slogan. According to recent reports by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, onion prices have increased by 400 per cent since March. In many states where onions are consumed heavily, the cost of the kitchen staple has crossed the Rs 100 mark for a kilo.
