With less than a month to go for the thirteenth season of IPL, Star India has signed up 10 top brands as sponsors for this season’s IPL to be held in the UAE. According to highly placed sources, the media rights holder for the cricket tournament has reportedly signed up Amazon, PhonePe, and Dream 11 as co-presenting sponsors for this edition. Some of other sponsors, which are reported to have confirmed their associations, include ITC Foods, Polycab, Asian Paints, Coca Cola, MRF, Mondolez and Kamala Pasand.

The broadcaster has also reportedly booked more than 50% of its inventory. The series that takes place between September 19, 2020 and November 10, 2020, is coinciding with the festive season. According to media buyers, this gives IPL a huge window to attract festive advertisers. The broadcaster has also reportedly booked more than 50% of its inventory.

One of the most premium properties in sports, IPL has a track record of getting all major brands on board to associate themselves with the series Even in the wake of a pandemic and subsequent change of location and series’ date, IPL is attracting brands to be a part of it. Only last week, Dream11 has bagged the title sponsorship for Rs 222 crore.

While Vivo backing out from the thirteenth season as title sponsors may have caused some initial hiccups, it is not keeping other popular brands away from the series.

A loyalty factor also works for some brands when it comes to IPL. PhonePe, for instance, has also been a sponsor in the past season.

Earlier this year before the pandemic hit the country, Star signed close to 9 advertisers by February including the likes of Vivo, Coca-Cola India, Amazon, PhonePe, Dream11 and Maruti Suzuki selling inventory worth Rs 900 crore. However, sponsorship values this time around are yet to be known.
