Swiggy Instamart opens first offline store in Gurugram

The store carries a limited assortment compared with Instamart’s online catalogue and is positioned as a touchpoint for consumers to interact with products in person

Quick-commerce platform Swiggy Instamart has opened its first offline experiential store in Gurugram, Haryana, marking its entry into physical retail alongside its app-based delivery operations.

The store is located at M3M 65th Avenue, Gurugram, and operates under the Instamart branding. Unlike Instamart’s dark stores-which are closed to the public and used exclusively for order fulfilment, the outlet is a walk-in retail space that allows customers to browse and purchase products in person.

The store carries a limited assortment compared with Instamart’s online catalogue and is positioned as a touchpoint for consumers to interact with products in person. The format also allows brands and sellers on the Instamart platform to showcase offerings in a physical environment. The selection includes fresh fruits and vegetables, grocery staples such as pulses, Instamart private-label products, and a small number of items from direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands available on the Instamart platform. The assortment is significantly smaller than that of a typical Instamart dark store, which stocks several thousand items to support quick deliveries.

Customers can enter the store, inspect products in person and complete transactions at the outlet itself. Purchases made at the store do not follow Instamart’s standard app-based ordering and delivery flow. The outlet is seller-operated, with sellers on the Instamart marketplace managing inventory and in-store sales. Payments at the store are handled offline and routed directly to the sellers, rather than through Swiggy’s usual online checkout system.

Instamart operates under food delivery company Swiggy, which has expanded its quick-commerce operations across multiple Indian cities through a network of dark stores enabling rapid grocery delivery. The Gurugram outlet currently remains Instamart’s only offline retail presence.

The launch adds a physical retail element to Instamart’s predominantly digital operations, introducing a new point of access for consumers within the platform’s existing ecosystem.
