BMC’s draft policy for billboards to cover ads on biz premises, skywalks, balloons: Report
The draft will also encompass guidelines for digitised hoardings following complaints by citizens and motorist
The Brihan Mumbai Corporation’s draft policy for hoardings in the city will also cover ads on building premises, skywalks and balloons, according to a news report. The draft also proposes to keep a minimum distance of 70 meters between two large billboards.
According to the report, the draft also recommends the distance between stationery vehicles and hoardings be at least 30 meters and for skywalks and foot over-bridges, 10 meters.
The report mentioned that the previous draft of the policy that was introduced in 2016 had no such specifications regarding hoardings and advertisements. It reportedly set a uniform distance of 100 meters between two billboards on poles on the same side of the road.
The updated policy draft will also encompass guidelines for digitised hoardings following complaints by citizens and motorists. The news report citing a civic official said that there will be a meeting regarding digital hoardings next week to make additions to the policy. After that, the draft will reportedly be placed in the public domain for suggestions and objections.
The draft policy also reportedly mentions that hoardings near high-tension wires will need a no-objection certificate from the power distribution company.
