It’s a brand new week and a brand new set of ads that left us impressed. In week 2 of May, we got to see some brilliant spots that truly surprised us with their creativity.

This week, we saw brands think out of the box with some quirky ads that border on the zany. From Savlon's visually striking spot that made us rethink hand hygiene to Zomato's mission to make Mother's Day unforgettable, literally, here are some of the best campaigns that caught our eye.

As always, this is not a ranking and they have been listed alphabetically.

Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime's latest ad film dramatises the process of show recommendation among OTT watchers in the most zaniest way possible.  The ad by MANJA shows how a wrestling match between two opponents turns into a show recommendation showdown where every person in the hall jumps into the fray to recommend their favourite thing to watch on Amazon Prime. The quirky ad has been produced by Nirvana with Prakash Varma as the director

Neeman’s Shoes

Neemen's marketing campaign can be best described as a guerrilla style attack on the algorithm. Leveraging voice data, the shoe brand teamed up with VML for an unconventional campaign, that involved two influencers taking a cross country trip across India and yelling "Are those Neemen's Shoes?" knowing that people's smartphones are always listening. Soon enough, Neemen's started trending on the said phones, recommending the brand to unsuspecting people who were in the vicinity of the two influencers. The ad dramatises the whole process in a quirky ad that captures attention.

Savlon

Hands can easily pick up grime and germs from our daily interactions with other people. Savlon and Ogilvy teamed up to give a visual representation of what it can look like in its new ad to spark behavioural change. The advert features two lovers holding hands in a diner with the woman's hand changing from the greasy arms of a mechanic to the grimy paws of dog. The tagline reiterates the ad's core message: "Jab tak aap haath nahi dhotey, aapke haath aapke nahi hotey." (Until you wash your hands, your hands aren't yours.)

Savlon's mission to ensure that kids wash their hands and thereby keep diseases at bay also got an unexpected fillip from rappers across the world. A common hand gesture among rappers in music videos is the "Birdman hand rub" or simply the "Birdman rub," which mimics the handwashing gesture. The brand released another film during the week to urge kids to get inspired by rappers and the Birdman rub to impact positive handwash behaviour.

Zomato

Mother's Day fell on May 12 this year and Zomato is on a mission to ensure no one forgets it. Despite moms playing such a big role in our lives, Mother's Day is among the most forgotten occasions of the year. With this insight, Zomato enlists the help of popular celebs like Johnny Lever, Arpit Bala and Ranveer Allahbadia to go on a mission to ensure no one forgets Mother's Day this year.
