With Diwali comes the excitement around greetings, gifts and sweets. Over the years, with a well-crafted campaign, Cadbury has made itself synonymous with the term successfully becoming a part of every Indian festival.
This festive season, Cadbury has introduced its very own virtual gifting application on Facebook, called ‘Happy Diwali’. The application, which has been developed by Contest2win Digital, allows users on Facebook to send virtual Cadbury chocolates as gifts to friends, colleagues and family while wishing them a happy Diwali. The initiative aims at reaching out to the 7.5 million Indian users on Facebook.
Social gifting initiates a word of mouth effect as users exchange gifts and engage in conversations around it. The Cadbury application does the same seamlessly within the context of the festival, giving users an all new exciting way to greet and treat loved ones on the joyous occasion.
Saurabh Bajaj, Brand Manager, Cadbury, said, “We are constantly innovating and reaching out to consumers through whichever media they consume. Virtual gifts have been fairly popular on Facebook, so the idea of a virtual Diwali gifting application was no brainer.”
Raj Menon, COO, Contest2win, said, “As relationships move online, it’s inevitable that these offline social gestures move online as well. In fact, these gestures are more powerful online since virtual Cadbury chocolates can be visible to a person’s entire social network, whereas Diwali cards and gifts are only visible to the handful of lucky friends and family.”
