Rupashi Bangla beefs up content line-up with films, new shows

This move, which comes within nine months of the launch of the Rupashi Bangla channel, is expected to draw huge number of eye balls for the channel and drive revenue. These movies are known for their repeat viewing properties by the young and middle aged cinema viewing public. Some of these movies have run for more than 25 weeks in movie halls across West Bengal in both urban and non-urban areas and have drawn viewers in multiplexes and single screen halls alike.
The bouquet of movies includes hits like ‘Chirodini Tumi Je Aamar’, ‘Poran Jaay Joliya Re’, ‘Prem Aamar’, ‘Bolo Na Tumi Aamar’, ‘Saat Paake Badha’, ‘Rehmat Ali’, and ‘Challenge’, among others.
With the Bengali small screen market set to heat up with the expected launch of a couple of new channels by the year-end, this move will provide a big handle to Rupashi Bangla to drive GRP and provide reasons to advertisers as well.
The channel has also repackaged its bouquet of daily serials with a regular telefilm slot on Sunday nights at 10 pm, a celebrity talk show with actress-turned-director Aparna Sen’s husband Kalyan Ray (Sunday, 5.30 pm), and four new mega serials – ‘Premer Thakur Shriramkrishno’ (devotional biopic), ‘Jugantor’, ‘Jononi Jonmobhumi’, and ‘Subhasini’ (produced by Shri Venkatesh Films). Amongst these, ‘Subhasini’ claims to have topped the charts with 6+ TVR (1-1 million, week 22) in its first week.
Rupashi Bangla also plans to introduce two big reality/ non-fiction shows in the next three months and fictions by the best directors and producers in the industry. With all the big hit films of recent years in its bouquet, Rupashi Bangla assures to give the Bengali audience an unmatched TV viewing experience and the advertisers a reason to revise their media plans.
