World Suicide Prevention Day: Campaigns that started conversations to spark a change
Brands took to social media conversations, creatives and visual representation campaigns to drive home the message
If recent stats are to be believed, India has witnessed a spurt in the number of suicide cases due to Covid. To address the issue, a couple of brands have launched campaigns on World Suicide Prevention Day today. Raising community awareness and breaking down the taboo is important to make progress in preventing suicide. From spreading the message through creatives with social media engagement to visual representation campaigns, some brands definitely did their bit. Here are some campaigns that caught our attention:
Suicide Prevention India Foundation
Suicide Prevention India Foundation (SPIF) is drawing its Paint Your Blues Campaign to a close. The graphic poster campaign invited artists and designers around the globe to send in their visual representation of key aspects of mental health: from introspection and self care to peer support and therapy.

Twitter India
Twitter India has announced a partnership with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), in observance of World Suicide Prevention Day. The campaign, which is being promoted under the ‘There is Help’ (#ThereIsHelp) tag, is aimed at offering a prominent banner that will be triggered by specific keywords of searches linked with suicide and self harm. Under the banner, Twitter India is offering users a direct link to the suicide prevention help page of NIMHANS, and has also introduced a Twitter list that notes down prominent helplines that can be contacted across India to prevent cases of suicide.
This month, we’ve expanded the feature to six more countries. Access to support is key. Suicide rates can increase in prolonged crises, and COVID-19 has left many people vulnerable to mental health problems. If you or anyone you know is suffering, remember #ThereIsHelp.

The Healthspring
The company through its creatives has been raising awareness about suicidal behaviours and how to effectively prevent them. Moreover, the company is creating conversations on signs and symptoms one can look for and spreading the empathy message. ‘Just the simple act of talking is an opportunity to express one's feelings & get relief from loneliness & pent-up negative feelings. Be sympathetic, non-judgmental & take them seriously,’ one of the creatives says.
