Lok Sabha polls: BJP ups the ante with more ads aimed at opposition
After firing the first salvo with an ad spoofing I.N.D.I.A Alliance, the party has followed up with three other films
General Elections are just around the corner and the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is amping up creativity and aggression with a volley of ads launched at the opposition. After firing the first salvo with an ad spoofing I.N.D.I.A Alliance members, the party has followed up with three other films targetting the opposition.
The first instalment of the BJP ads showed the alliance members trying to win the hand of a bride (metaphorically the voters) with a Rahul Gandhi lookalike as the self-appointed "groom". But soon enough, the other members of the alliance, or "business partners" object to Gandhi's candidature, with each wanting to be the groom himself.
In line with the characters of the first ad, BJP released a second ad with the doppelgangers of I.N.D.I.A Alliance members like Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal, Uddhav Thackrey, Mamata Banerjee, Tejashwi Yadav and others posed as the 10-headed Ravan. They turn up at a label shop, stating that they need a label for their newly named company. The film takes potshots at the alliance, reminding them of their 2014 and 2019 losses and using terms like "Mahataghbandhan" (Great deception alliance) instead of "Mahagathbandhan" (Great alliance) to describe them. This film was conceptualized and created by Scarecrow M&C Saatchi.

In a Crime Patrol-esque fashion, the second film claims how previous governments downplayed India's indigenous culture, favouring Western practices instead. It highlights how the Narendra Modi-led government turned the tide and brought Indian-ness back into the spotlight.
Another showcases the quintessential dilemma of Indian voters having to decide between the incumbent PM and his adversaries who are addressed by names like Pappu, Muffler Man, Topiwala, or Didi.
The BJP has been aggressive in its media approach. e4m previously reported that the party topped the Meta Ads list with the maximum number of ads campaigns running on the social media platform.
