'TV ad volumes of auto sector grew 17% in 2023'

Television ad volumes of the automobile sector saw a growth of 17% in the year 2023, compared to 2022, with news channels being the most preferred medium, according a TAM AdEx report.
According to TAM Adex - 2023 Cross Media Advertising Recap - Auto Sector, the highest ad volume share of 11.8% on TV for Auto Sector was recorded in October 2023 while December 2023 had the lowest share of ad volume at 5.2%.
Cars was the top category on TV in 2023 from the auto sector with 50% share of ad volumes and among top advertisers, Maruti Suzuki India secured 1st position with 12% share of ad volumes in FY 2023, the report said.
However, during the year, the second, third and fourth quarter witnessed de-growth of 21%, 16% and 22% compared to the first quarter.
Among the top five categories of advertisers from the auto sector were cars, two-wheelers, commercial vehicles, tyres and automotive fuel.
Besides Maruti Suzuki, top five advertisers were TVS Motors (10%), Tata Motors (10%), Hyundai Motor India (6%) and Suzuki Motorcycle India (5%).
Around 58% of the auto sector advertisers chose news channels to advertise on, followed by movie channels (17%), GECs (11%), Music (6%) and Sports (4%).
Prime time was the most preferred time-band on TV followed by afternoon and morning time-bands.
