To serve the content and lifestyle needs of the Tamil readers, Femina has launched its Tamil edition on March 24, 2011. With an initial print run of 75,000 copies, the magazine is priced at Rs 30. The monthly, which is edited by Tanya Chaitanya, the Editor of Femina (English and Hindi), will carry 150+ pages in every edition.
The magazine will be available throughout Tamil Nadu as well as in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kochi.
Speaking on the launch, Tarun Rai, CEO, Worldwide Media said, “Our research has shown that there is a sizeable segment of progressive, Tamil-speaking women who are looking for quality content. I am sure some of our other magazines will follow suit with their Tamil editions.”
Through this edition, the magazine is targeting the modern, evolving Tamil-speaking woman in SEC A and A+, in the 20-29 age group.
Leveraging the main pillars of the English magazine, Femina’s Tamil edition will have special content customised for the Tamil reader, providing insights into fashion, beauty, lifestyle, relationships, career, food, travel and much more.
Meanwhile, Tanya Chaitanya, Editor, Femina, remarked, “While making Femina Tamil, I learned that real Indian women, wherever they come from, remain inspirational. Whether it is about looking drop dead gorgeous while knocking the socks off male colleagues in the boardroom or making the best biryani in the kitchen while coordinating invites for next evening’s rock concert, Tamil women have evolved in the most inspiring way. Femina Tamil, as I was working on it, introduced me to a reader who has ventured far but stayed true to her roots. A balancing act only we women can achieve. Give it up to the ladies.”
Prachi Tiwari, Brand Publisher, Femina, reiterated, “The Tamil edition will carry on the legacy of the mother brand, reflecting what matters to the Tamil speaking reader, and finding newer ways to connect with her changing lifestyle and ambitions.”
The ad rates for full page ad in the magazine are fixed at Rs 150,000. The launch is being supported by a 360-degree marketing campaign spanning print, radio, on-ground, POS branding and online. The campaign will be rolled out across Tamil Nadu from Friday, March 25, the date when the magazine hits the stands.
