Germany’s Deutsche Welle launches two dedicated channels in India

Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcaster, on March 24, 2009, officially launched DW-TV Asia+ for the Indian market with a new schedule offering 18 hours of programming in English. The new channel offers a perfect mix of European lifestyle, culture and the arts as well as in-depth reports from business and politics on major Indian cable operators.

Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcaster, on March 24, 2009, officially launched DW-TV Asia+ for the Indian market with a new schedule offering 18 hours of programming in English. The new channel offers a perfect mix of European lifestyle, culture and the arts as well as in-depth reports from business and politics on major Indian cable operators.

For viewers looking for more programming in German, DW-TV Asia will offer 16 hours of German programming and eight hours of English. This is especially targeted at viewers from German-speaking countries living abroad, or to those interested in learning German.

The two new channels will focus on the latest, trendiest lifestyle, culture, and the arts happenings in Europe. The channels will showcase programming titles like ‘Euromaxx’, a daily lifestyle magazine showing the sparkling facets of European living and glamour and ‘Drive it!’, which will give the latest auto news from Germany and the rest of Europe. Other programmes include ‘Arts.21’ on the European and international cultural scene, ‘In good shape’ on healthy lifestyle, ‘Global 3000’, which investigates the risks and opportunities of globalization, and ‘In Focus’, which offers documentaries covering a wide range of interesting topics.

DW-TV Asia+ is available on Sun Direct TV, DD Direct + DTH, InCable Networks, Hathway Cable, Manthan Broadband Services, Ortel, Siticable, Seven Star, Asianet, Atria, and many other cable networks and in premium hotels in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.
