It was a happy end to a Wednesday for Indians, with the Indian cricket team beating New Zealand in the World Cup semi-finals by 70 runs. The nation sat biting its nails, as close to 5.3 crore viewers logged into Disney+Hotstar to livestream the match.

This was a win for the history books and the match will be remembered for a long time to come by Indians. For starters, it broke India’s sem-final jinx against the Kiwis. It heralded Virat Kohli’s 50th ODI century, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most runs in a single edition of the Cricket World Cup. Shreyas Iyer smashed a solid 105, backing Kohli’s brilliant performance.

It also saw fast bowler Mohammed Shami’s impressive feat of taking 7 wickets for 57 runs.

On this joyous occasion that has united Indians all over the world, can brands be left too far behind? Social media was awash with congratulatory posts for India’s cricket greats Kohli, Shami and Iyer who helped India secure a berth in the finals. Brands too hopped on to rejoice in the win and gear up for the finals scheduled to be held on Sunday, Nov 19.

From Zomato and Swiggy to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, they didn't miss the moment to jump onto the moment marketing train, yet again.
