With a vision to continuously offer a complete portfolio of display solutions, LG Electronics has added another first to its credit by introducing the world’s largest and India’s first 71” Plasma TV in the Capital yesterday. Apart from that the company also unveiled India’s first 15” wireless LCD TV.

Equipped with XD engine, the 71” Plasma TV is priced at Rs 30 lakh, while the LCD TV, which has a wireless connectivity of up to 50 metres and is targeted at the tech savvy Indian customer, comes at a price of Rs 99,000.

Moon B Shin, Deputy Managing Director, LGEIL, said, “LG’s foray into the large screen high-end digital display segment is an endeavour on our part to introduce world class products in the Indian market. We are confident that the launch of these products will further consolidate our position amongst the global leaders.”

Also present on the occasion was Havis Kwon, Vice President, Digital Display, LGEIL. Kwon said, “The sheer size and potential of the Indian consumer electronics market has prompted us to introduce the best possible products in India from LG’s portfolio. We as a group have tremendous expectations from the Indian market and foresee it as a country to reckon with in the years to come.”

The company didn’t disclose the sales figures as of now, but is aiming to garner around Rs 9,000 crore from its entire product range in 2005. From its LCD Monitor range alone, LG plans to notch up Rs 600 crore in 2005. The company had a 60 per cent growth from this segment last year.

Asked about the sales spread, Shin said 45 per cent comes from the rural areas while the urban areas contribute to about 55 per cent of the sales. The company plans to roll out their advertising campaign for the latest range of products somewhere in July.
