Another week has passed. And from a sea of forgettable spots, some have truly managed to capture our attention. While star power and celebrity faces lent heft to some adverts, some persevered with great narration and clever execution. Brands also brought out some early cricket-themed ads for the T20 season.
Last week, we spotlighted brands such as Durex, Samsung, Whisper, Manforce, Nutrica and Vadilal. This time, we feature the best ads in the four week of May from brands like Myntra, DixyScott, Mountain Dew and Star Sports.
DixyScott
DixyScott’s campaign by TBWA India draws from real-life scenarios where language becomes a status symbol and a barrier in many cases. The new “Body ki Bhasha” campaign by the innerwear brand features cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj alongside cricketing veteran Ravi Shastri. The ad doubles down on staying true to one’s languages and traditions or “Body ki Bhasha” despite pressure to confirm.
Myntra
Bollywood power duo Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar starred in an ad for Myntra conceptualised by Tilt Brand Solutions that dropped last week. The two known for their crackling wit and chemistry promoted the brand’s End of Reason Sale. In the ad, Johar throws a fit demanding that SRK stop promoting the platform to gatekeep great international fashion from the hoi polloi. The ad is a part of Myntra’s two-film campaign, which also stars Kiara Advani.
Mountain Dew
Mountain Dew, whose core value is all about conquering fear, applauded the grit and courage of debutant players in the cricket season. The brand released an animated ad film “Himmat ko Jakad ke Pakad” for the campaign that tells a little story of overcoming doubts and fears and moving ahead with confidence.
Star Sports
Inarguably, the most bitterest rivalry in cricket is between India and Pakistan. No one celebrates it more than Star Sports, bringing out the latest installation of the famous “Mauka, Mauka” ad for T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup. India’s anthem for ribbing its rival has seen many iterations over the years. This time, it starts with an apology. Or does it?
