The period Jan-May ‘07 saw a 5% rise in advertising by retail sector, over Jan-May ’06. Festive season recorded a peak in ad volumes of this sector in 2006, while independent retailers garnered maximum 48% share of volumes. New retail shops advertised with multiple concepts like telecom, home solutions, garments and hypermarket. Usage of nearly 40% of sales promotional ads was by retailers. Pantaloons Retail India topped advertising in this sector.

The world’s audiovisual and digital content market is set to honour the Indian media and entertainment industries at the 24th edition of MIPCOM 2007 at Cannes. The event this year is scheduled from October 8-12. In addition to an ‘India Day’, ZEEL’s Subhash Chandra and UTV’s Ronnie Screwvala will deliver keynote addresses.
