The Women’s Premier League (WPL) has consistently been a thrilling blend of cricket, business, and entertainment, and this year was no different. It continued to captivate audiences across both television and digital platforms.

Compared to the previous edition the WPL ecosystem's value has increased from Rs 1250 crore to 1350 crore, marking an 8.0% rise. In USD terms, this translates from USD 150 million to USD 160 million, also reflecting an approximate 8.0% growth, according to IPL Valuation Report 2024 by D&P Advisory.

This is unlike IPL, which experienced a 10.6% decline in valuation from Rs 92,500 crore to Rs 82,700 crore. The decline is primarily attributed to a reassessment of media rights values.

Sponsors have shown substantial trust in the women's league, with major brands eager to associate themselves with the burgeoning brand of women's cricket, according to the report. The addition of new associate partner Sintex, aimed at promoting and nurturing women's cricket in the country, underscores a shared vision to provide a platform for female cricketers to showcase their talent and inspire the next generation. This addition leads to an increase in central sponsorships, which further highlights how brands are placing their trust in the WPL as a league and its potential for long-term profitability and success.

“While stadium capacities have stayed consistent, the number of fans attending matches has surged by over 50%, reflecting increasing enthusiasm and support for the WPL,” said the report.

This surge in attendance not only underscores the growing popularity of the league among fans but also enhances its appeal to global brands.

The impressive growth in the WPL ecosystem's valuation and the increasing engagement from fans and sponsors alike signal a promising future for women's cricket in India.

The league's ability to attract significant investment and viewership highlights its burgeoning appeal and potential for long-term success. With strategic partnerships, dedicated sponsors, and a passionate fanbase, the WPL is poised to continue its upward trajectory, fostering talent and inspiring a new generation of female cricketers.
