The exchange4media PR and Corp Comm’s 30 Under 30 Awards identifies next-generation leaders in the PR and corporate communications industry. It honours some of the brightest professionals, entrepreneurs, game changers and achievers of the industry under the age of 30.

The ‘30 Under 30 series’ features the winners who share their experiences, trends they have observed in the domain and where they see themselves in the next five years.

In today’s series, we speak to Aakanksha Ahlawat, PR Manager, Cars24.

Excerpts:

How does it feel to be recognised and honoured for your contribution to the industry?

Firstly, I would like to thank the e4m team and the jury for taking it upon themselves to recognise young and upcoming PR professionals like us. I am honoured to be part of this year’s 30 under 30 crew and it has definitely deepened my love for the industry. And I proudly continue to say - Mera Pyaar PR

What are the key trends that you have noticed in the past year in the PR and Corp Comm domain?

The world of PR and Corp Communications has evolved dramatically, especially post the pandemic. More and more brands realised the importance of being present ‘online’. This has led to the emergence of newer PR avenues and platforms like podcasts or newsletters.

As I spent time in my hometown, Vadodara, during the pandemic, I noticed that people around me are not on the local news channel on their TVs but are getting live updates via an Instagram page called ‘Our Vadodara’. And it made me realise that people are not just consuming news or information via newspapers or news websites or news channels; we can now connect with them almost everywhere.

What is that one industry lesson/ experience that you will carry with you throughout your career?

A colleague of mine from my first PR job, at Adfactors PR, mentioned on Day 1- “You will be a great PR professional but don’t forget to PR Yourself!”

Passing on these words of motivation and advice to the next gen of PR professionals.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

In Bangalore or Australia, happily spending time with my family and taking up part time teaching jobs along with being an even more successful PR professional. Making my friends, family and self proud.

Additionally, I also hope to see a more defined and logical way of evaluating PR impact in the future. Would love to be able to contribute to this.
