Print ad volumes of two-wheelers declined by 36% during Jan-Aug '07 over Jan-Aug '06. An overwhelming 80% of the advertising share was taken by the ‘Motorcycle’ category. Bajaj Auto was the top advertiser during this period, and TVS Star Spot led among new launches. Interestingly, two-wheeler advertisers preferred non-Metro newspapers.

Vijay TV has claimed to have hit a new high with its celebrity dance show ‘Garnier Fructis Jodi No. 1 – Season 2’. Last week’s rating on the ‘other language round’ episode delivered record audience shares for Vijay TV. The episode scored a whopping 27 TVR in Chennai among the female audience, clocking channel shares of 66.3 per cent.

The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) has said that its directive regarding levy of an input cost inflation surcharge on TV media had been widely welcomed by its member broadcasters, a majority of whom had chosen to heed the advisory. IBF further claimed that several advertisers were also coming forward to accept the surcharge.
