IPL 2024: Claws come out in Dream11's cameo-filled ad for the cricket season

The Dream11 ad for IPL 2024 has amassed over 26 million views on YouTube in just a day after its launch

As cricket lovers brace themselves for IPL 2024, the fantasy sports platform has launched an ad for the season with cameos from the who's who of the celebrity world. Stepping up from last year's actors vs cricketers ad, Dream11 has pitted teams against teams, friends against friends and even brothers against brothers in the new commercial.



True to the sentiments, "Jab T20 league ka fever chadega, har koi #TeamSeBadaKuchNahi kahega" says the tagline for the new ad.

With battle lines clearly drawn, each cricketer forgets every other allegiance except for the one to his respective team. A stern-faced Rishabh Pant stops Rohit Sharma from getting into the "team" bus. Brothers Krunal and Hardik Pandya don't acknowledge their familial bonds. Shreyas Iyer gets ruthlessly heckled by Mumbai Indians.

The acrimony even extends to the fans with interesting cameos by Daler Mehndi, Samantha Prabhu, Preity Zinta, Suneil Shetty, Danish Sait, Supriya Pathak and Krishnamachari Srikkanth, each going to hilarious lengths to show support for their favourite teams.

The ad has been well-received on social media. In just a day after its release, the ad garnered over 26 million views on YouTube with most comments praising the ad for its fresh approach.

The ad has been conceptualised by Tilt Brand Solutions, who was also behind Dream11's viral 3 Idiots-inspired ad for IPL 2023. Ad enthusiasts may also find the concept reminiscent of the 2018 Messi vs Suarez ad by Gatorade.
