What makes a good ad? It should tell a story, capture the viewers' imagination, communicate a clear message and (most importantly) not seem like an ad at all. This fortnight, we have been treated to some campaigns that meet the criteria for a good ad. With the festive season at our doorsteps, many brands have come out with creative spots for festivals like Diwali and Karwa Chauth. We also saw celeb power elevate ads this fortnight. Here's a list of some of the best ones we found in the fortnight between October 16 and 31.

Catch Spices

This quirky-and-cute Karwa Chauth ad has actor Saurabh Shukla playing the moon as a "suthradhar." In this digital film conceptualized by Dentsu Creative and directed and produced by the Titus Upputuru Company the personified Moon begins with reflective thoughts on its role in the lives of couples, especially during the post-marriage Karwachauth festival.

Bisk Farm

One of the most iconic moments in Indian cricket is Sourav Ganguly's iconic jersey wave at the Lord's balcony in 2002. The former cricketer in Bisk Farm's new ad decided to pay homage to his infamous act by reenacting the wave for the brand's ‘Me Time, Marie Time’ campaign.

Doritos Dinamita

Taking the "blast" proposition literally, Doritos Dinamata dramatises a quirky situation with friends who want to attract the attention of a rescue helicopter after they get trapped. A quick-thinking camper decides to bite into one of the Doritos Dinamata to "explode," successfully attracting the attention of the chopper.

Livespace

The 2023 brand campaign 'Livspace your space- Season 2' stars Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma and a couple of ghouls. The campaign by Tilt Brand Solutions focuses on the horrors of everyday problems that "haunt" homeowners and their furniture.

Rungta Steel

The Jawan-inspired ad starring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan could have easily been mistaken for an entertaining scene from a movie. Bhatt reprises her Shanaya role from her debut film Student of the Year and Kapoor dons his Barfi avatar in front of a menacing "Jawan" SRK. The ad hilariously cross-references the hit movies of the actors, making the Rungta Steel ad as entertaining as it is impactful.

Spotify

A neatly done ad that hits us right in the feels, especially if Dil Chahta Hai is a film that's close to your heart. Spotify Premium's ‘Feel The Music’ campaign brings listeners closer to their favourite artists by bringing the moments of music creation to the forefront. The first installment of the campaign.
