Parle, Britannia, Amul among most chosen in-home brands in 2023: Kantar

Kantar recently released its Brand Footprint Report 2024 with the focus on the annual ranking of the most chosen FMCG brands worldwide.

About 445 brands across Beverages, Home Care, Foods, Health & Beauty, Dairy were taken into consideration to derive the findings of this report.

Parle with 7980 CRP (m), Britannia with 7937 CRP(m), Amul with 6137 CRP(m), Clinic Plus with 4144 CRP(m), Tata Consumer Products with 3035 CRP (m), were the top five most chosen in-home brands, according to the report. Other brands on the list were Surf Excel, Sunfeast, Nandini, Aavin, Colgate, in the same order.

Consumer Reach Points-CRP, measure and compare the success of brands across different markets and regions. One CRP represents a single instance of a shopper choosing a brand, integrating data on population, penetration, and consumer choice to provide a holistic view of brand performance.

Some Indian brands like Haldiram’s, Bingo, Balaji Wafers, Fena, Sargam, MDH in the top 100 grew by more than 30% in CRP. 

The biggest penetration gains were noted for Sunfeast with a 6.4 penetration change, followed by Sunsilk (6.2), Stayfree (6.1), Oreo (6), Haldiram’s (5.5), Bingo (5.5), Surf Excel (5.4), Britannia (5.2), Nescafe (4.9) and Comfort (4.1).

Britannia, Surf Excel, Sunfeast, Haldiram’s, Patanjali showed more than 20% penetration increase in ten years with 2nd, 6th, 7th, 11th and 12th rank respectively. These brands were ranked 5th, 29th, 22nd, 34th and 156th in 2014, in the same order.

Speaking of most chosen out-of-home FMCG brands, Britannia-628 CRP(m), Haldiram’s-442 CRP(m), Cadbury-427 CRP(m), Balaji Wafers-362 CRP(m), Parle-302 CRP(m), topped the rankings. Other brands on the list were, Lay’s, Amul, Kurkure, Sunfeast, Bingo occupying ranks 6th-10th.

Thums Up, Frooti, Amul, Maaza, and Bisleri became the five most chosen out-of-home beverage brands in India. 

The highlight of the report was, Parle, a 95-year-old biscuit brand, secured the title of top global billionaire brand.

Overall consumer reach points (CRP) increased by almost 33% in the last five years, garnering 115 billion CRP in 2023, which was a 7% increase from 2022.

Globally, Colgate, Colgate, Maggi, Omo, and Knorr were the five most chosen FMCG brands on the planet.
