Trends in FMCG sector advertising in Print: AdEx study
Print ad volumes of FMCG sector grew by 14% in 2006 over 2005, but saw only a 3% rise in Jan-Apr ’07. A whopping 76% of advertising of FMCG sector went to Newspapers, with publications from North and West zones contributing more than 60%. HLL continue to maintain its No. 1 position in the first quarter of the calendar year.

Rena Golden, Senior VP, CNN International, points out that the most obvious difference between Indian and Western news channels is the difference in audiences being targeted. CNN-IBN, NDTV, Doordarshan, etc., and the others are competing in a national market in India and CNN is not competing with them. The audience is the prime differentiator, she says.

MRUC to launch Indian Outdoor Survey
MRUC has announced its plans to launch the Indian Outdoor Survey (IOS) with an aim to measure the medium, thus bringing in credibility and thus growing it. The service, which will be active in the weeks to come, will be implemented in 11 cities in the first year. The survey intends to cover 19 cities within three years of its operations.
