Ajit Thakur, Business Head, Sony Entertainment Television is moving out of the channel for personal reasons. Max’ Business Head Sneha Rajani would be replacing Thakur. In the meanwhile, Neeraj Vyas, Head of Sales of Sony has been appointed Business Head, Max.

Movies Now debuts with a bang

Times Television Network’s Movie Now, which was launched on December 19, 2010, has created a stir in the English movies domain. The channel has shown a very positive response from audiences, within the first week and a half of its launch, beating channels such as HBO. In the six-metro market, the channel scored even higher than genre leader Star Movies.

 While the exit of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ caused some concerns , the opening numbers for the big ticket ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ in the metro markets have ensured a good weekend for the channel officials. With 4.5 TVR for the curtainraiser episode and an average rating of 5.6 TVR for the opening episodes, Sony’s Ajit Thakur calls the numbers “unprecedented”.

The New KBC: Ending a decent innings

The New KBC, as Sony Entertainment Television officials like to call it, had begun with a bang despite the skepticism around the show given the previous two seasons. As the show ends, the industry is divided over the latest season’s performance – while one view is that the finale episode could have rated better, the other view is that this has been one of the better seasons, where all episodes held on to the ratings till the very end, and the show allowed Sony to beat Zee on enough occasions to be at the No. 3 spot.

The 9 pm slot was set to see some heated battle last week. Star Plus’ ‘Gulaal’ has thrown its first set of numbers, ‘Bigg Boss’ continued with its spike episodes – this week with Pamela Anderson in the house, ‘KBC’ was busy with its own plans, and Zee TV’s ‘Pavitra Rishta’ delivered some of its best numbers. The 9 pm slot is surely not an easy one to lead.
